Clean Up at Moonshine Cave : Virginia Natural Heritage Program·Thursday, March 3, 2016

The Cedars Volunteer Stewardship Committee, (Friends of The Cedars) and DCR-Natural Heritage stewards conducted a cleanup of Moonshine Cave on The Cedars Natural Area Preserve on February 20. Many thanks to volunteers Amanda Lambert, Jolene Lambert, Mary Sprinkle, David Cope, Bob Van Gundy, and Liam Hartley who helped to remove the garbage from the cave. Despite the cave’s small size - about three feet wide and ten feet long - the group removed approximately 400 milk jugs, 20 feet of water pipe, miscellaneous garbage, and one galvanized tub. The task was wet and grueling but was accomplished in about three hours.
